Nordic digital platform, Liva Healthcare, successfully expands in the UK

Liva Healthcare named Health IT firm of the year at HealthInvestor Awards 2018

Liva Healthcare was last night recognised for its innovation by being named the winner of Health IT firm of the year at the HealthInvestor Awards 2018.

The company was recognised for being an innovative service within healthcare IT. Liva Healthcare’s model was praised to be “highly scalable, enabling a large continuum of patients to increase functionality and lifestyle performance”.

Liva Healthcare provides a digital health coaching programme for those with chronic lifestyle diseases, such as heart disease and Type 2 diabetes, connecting patients with health professionals.

The company established its presence in the UK in 2017, chosen as one of five technology providers to pilot the digital stream of the NHS Healthier You: Diabetes Prevention Programme and partnering with leading private insurer, AXA PPP.

Kristoffer From, CEO of Liva Healthcare, comments:

“Our role in the NHS digital pilot and our partnership with private insurer AXA PPP, is proving how our digital platform is wanted in the UK market.”

“With this award, we are now aiming to widen our presence in the UK through building new partnerships and launching new health prevention programmes with private insurance, pharma and public healthcare bodies. The UK is an extremely forward-thinking market when it comes to technological advancements and, with this win, we’re confident that Liva Healthcare will continue to successfully expand in the UK market.”

“This is just the beginning. The next 12 months will see further investment in the UK market through relationships with private medical insurers, pharma companies and Liva’s ongoing commitment to the NHS. Outside of this, Liva is beginning its US market entry and plans to be operational by the end of 2018.”

Headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark, Liva Healthcare, the newest venture of the founders behind NetDoctor, is an innovative digital health coaching platform designed to tackle chronic lifestyle diseases.

Liva Healthcare has been running in its native Denmark since 2014. The platform has over 9,000 registered users and many of the 20 Danish health authorities have sponsored and make use of its development. Its chairman, Carsten Koch, is the former minister of health in Denmark.

Through this unique hybrid model of technology and human intervention, the platform aims to drive behaviour and lifestyle changes through setting and monitoring personal goals, such as reducing blood sugar levels, calorie intake and smoking, to increasing activity levels and sleep.

The platform is used by healthcare authorities, pharma and insurance companies to drive patient engagement, clinical outcomes and healthcare delivery efficiency with real-time data insight.

About Liva Healthcare

Liva Healthcare, the newest venture of the founders behind NetDoctor, is an innovative digital health coaching platform for scalable lifestyle and disease management. To date, it has been selected for use by NHS England, AXA PPP Healthcare and many others.

Liva Healthcare’s platform facilitates ongoing personalised correspondence through an intuitive app, building on a strong bond between coach, GP and patient. Its main focus lies on scaling back chronic illnesses by driving behaviour change.

Liva Healthcare has been running in its native Denmark since 2014. The platform has over 9,000 registered users and many of the 20 Danish health authorities have sponsored and make use of its development. Ex-Danish Health Minister Carsten Koch is chairman.

The app is multilingual across several languages, proven to work efficiently across all socio-economic backgrounds and is capable of engaging groups normally hard to reach. It is based upon nine to 18 months of continuous patient engagement to make new habits and behaviours stick. One coach can manage 400-600 patients simultaneously.

Implementation time from get-go is normally within weeks and the platform is available as a white-label SaaS platform, or as a turn-key solution, dependent on client specifications.

University of Southern Denmark (SDU) is conducting extensive scientific research into the operational efficiency and clinical outcomes of the platform. Liva Healthcare has offices in Copenhagen, Denmark and London, UK.

About HealthInvestor Awards

The HealthInvestor Awards 2018 recognise innovation in the independent healthcare sector, awarding organisations that have made an outstanding contribution to healthcare in 2017. The awards final, brought together 1,300 people from companies across Europe that supply healthcare.

About the NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme

Healthier You: NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme is run collaboratively by NHS England, Public Health England and Diabetes UK, was officially launched last year with 27 areas covering 26 million people – almost half of the country and in June, 13 new areas of the country went live as part of Wave 2 of the programme. The ambition is for the programme to eventually cover the whole of the country and figures could rise to as many as 200,000 referrals of people at high risk of Type 2 diabetes and more than 80,000 people on programmes by 2018/19. The testing of alternative digital interventions will establish their effectiveness, providing an evidence base for upscaling the digital programme in future and offering further choice to the support people receive.
