Liva’s digital health programme to be rolled out in region of Gävleborg

Liva Healthcare, the innovative digital health coaching platform for scalable lifestyle and disease management, today announces it has been awarded a large contract with the Swedish region, Gävleborg, north of Stockholm.

The contract marks further international expansion of the Danish company which is now operational in: Sweden, England and Denmark. In England, Liva is a provider in the digital stream pilot of the Healthier You: NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme. In Liva’s home country, more than 20 per cent of Danish municipalities have so far implemented the Liva programme for patients with lifestyle diseases such as diabetes and obesity.

The Gävleborg region has a population of 285,000 and 18% of the population has BMI > 30, 4% above the national average. Over the next ten years, the number of diabetic patients in Gävleborg is expected to double. In order to tackle unhealthy lifestyles, nearly 40% of the population have indicated they need support to increase their physical activity levels, according to statistics from the region.

The new contract with Gävleborg will see Liva’s digital health programme being rolled out to diabetics throughout the region. Patients at risk of Type 2 diabetes, or who have Type 2 diabetes, will be able to use the Liva programme to slow down the development of the disease or even reverse it.

Liva Healthcare was founded by the entrepreneurs and founding fathers behind the international success NetDoctor, Rune Bech and Dr. Carl J. Brandt together with it’s CEO Kristoffer From. The company provides a digital health coaching programme to help diabetics reverse the disease through lifestyle change. Liva’s programme facilitates ongoing personalised health coaching through an intuitive app, building a strong bond between a health coach and a patient to help drive behaviour change. The programme is based upon nine to 18 months of continuous patient engagement to make new habits and behaviours stick. One health coach can typicaly manage up to 400 patients simultaneously without the loss of patient outcomes.

Kristoffer From, CEO of Liva Healthcare comments: “This is an exciting step for Liva, with Sweden now the third country we operate in. Since being selected by the NHS, the world’s largest healthcare provider, to help tackle Type 2 diabetes, we have received inquiries from all over the world. This latest development is part of our drive to become the world leader in the digital treatment of diabetes.”
